I'll never forget the Saturday before Christmas when I was managing my Pandora store. We were slammed, short one person, and I was simultaneously training a new hire, helping a customer choose an engagement gift, and watching other stores in the mall crush it on social media while we barely had time to think about it.

That's when it hit me: This shouldn't be this hard.

Store owners are expected to be operations experts, marketing gurus, HR managers, and mind readers—all while actually running the business. Something had to give.

I spent 5+ managing that Pandora location. I loved the work—hitting sales targets, building a team that actually cared, creating those moments when a customer found the perfect gift. But I also saw how impossible it was to do operations well AND market effectively at the same time.

Meanwhile, I was doing freelance social media work for brands on the side. I saw the disconnect immediately: Marketing experts who didn't understand retail operations. Retail managers who didn't have time for marketing.
